Tracks for a Northumberland Grower

Trees Please, a specialist grower of bare-root trees, selling over 7 million Broadleaves, Conifers and Shrubs each year, fitted a set of four Poluzzi track units to their John Deere 6230.

The CTR0016 & CTF0016 units with 16” tracks were fitted at 72” (1830mm) on a machine used largely for tree harvesting.

Increased Flotation

Retrofitting four track units allowed this Northumberland tree grower to increase the ground contact area by almost 4 times.  The tracks gave an approximate footprint of 30,800cm2 – an increase of over 22,334cm2 compared to the existing tyres.

Reduced Compaction

Soil compaction was reduced through the increased surface area.

With the original 460/85R38 and 420/85R24 tyres, the ground pressure was approximately 23 psi (1.6 bar), after tracks were fitted this was reduced to 11.5 psi (0.79 bar).  This results in better plant growth and reduces the need for costly remedial cultivation.
